Dr. Jesús G. Ruiz earned his Ph.D. in Latin American Studies at Tulane University and is currently an ACLS Emerging Voices Postdoctoral Fellow at Duke University. He specializes in the history of Latin America & the Caribbean, the Black Atlantic, and specifically Haiti and the Haitian Revolution.

Charles Scaife is PhD Candidate in Environmental Sciences at the University of Virginia and a science policy fellow working in Washington, DC. When's he not trying to understand climate change and its impacts on our forests and waterways, he's trail running, practicing yoga, or binge-watching a new series.

Elena Shaw (she/her) is a St. Lawrence University junior studying abroad in Madrid. Spain this semester. She is a psychology and Spanish major with a public health minor.

Jessica Sierk has served as an Editor at Weave News and is an Assistant Professor of Education at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York. Her research focuses on concerns of equity in education. She teaches classes on Critical Whiteness Studies, Critical Media Literacy, Sexuality Education, and Contemporary Issues in American Education, among others.

Joe Simeone is a Junior at St. Lawrence University (Class of 2022) with a double major in Business in the Liberal Arts and History. Joe is from Henniker, New Hampshire and joined as a writer for Weave News in October, 2020. He loves to play sports such as basketball and soccer, and is also interested in political and social justice issues.

I am a Computer Science and Business in the Liberal Arts major at St. Lawrence University. I did my research on immigration while studying abroad in Denmark. On campus, I am involved in the Q-club and the Swing club. I love hiking and anything that relates to nature.

Andrew Watson is a Program Associate at the Center for Environmental Farming Systems at NC State in Raleigh, North Carolina. He is a passionate Local Foods Advocate with the radical idea that food, how it’s grown, and where it comes from are important concepts.
