Artsakh: The Burdens of Healing (Short Documentary)
Weave News is pleased to present this short documentary by Taline Norsigian, a young artist and filmmaker who has previously worked as an intern with our organization. The film was produced in 2022-2023 as part of an independent study project at St. Lawrence University under the supervision of Dr. John Collins. It was released by Hay Hokee Films in 2023.
Campus Quarantine: A Student Documentary
Weave News is proud to join The Hill News (the St. Lawrence University student newspaper) in co-publishing Campus Quarantine, a new documentary about students stuck on campus during the COVID-19 pandemic. Filmed and directed by Meiting Li, the documentary features excerpts from interviews conducted with St. Lawrence students, including graduating seniors, who remained on campus during the period of “remote learning” at the end of the Spring 2020 semester. What was it like for them? What challenges have they been facing? What have they learned from the experience, and what are they looking forward to?
“They’ll Take the Sea From Us”: A Nautical Glimpse Into Palestine’s Colonial Confinement
By John Collins
“In the past, fishing was better, because we could go out 12 nautical miles and no one targeted us,” observes one of the young Gazan fisherman. “Now, it’s only six miles and there’s no fish there.” This basic fact - the literal shrinking of the space within which people in Gaza can engage in fishing without risking harassment and death at the hands of the Israeli military - lies at the core of “Six Miles Out,” a striking new video released on Facebook last week by the We Are Not Numbers project (whose work has been featured previously here on the Weave News site).
